Sanctions Control and Ownership (50% rule)​

Companies owned or controlled by people or entities sanctioned by the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and/or the European Union, the United Kingdom:

  • Minimum ownership stake of 10%

  • A sanctioned individual has a possible controlling interest (either as a member of the board, senior executive or other position of influence)

  • Aggregated ownership interests

  • Companies owned by the governments of comprehensively sanctioned countries: Cuba, Iran, North Korea and Syria.

As of 1st June 2022, Dow Jones had identified over 30,000 such entities in over 180 countries.
